Becoming Moribund

Although I realise I've just falsified it by posting not once but twice, I feel I should warn readers - after all, there are so few of you I feel I have a genuinely personal bond - that being a graduate student seems to be eating rather more of my time than I remember it doing. I haven't read any other blogs in about a week or so, and I'm not sure when I am next going to get time to, so the chances of me having time to write anything here are clearly tiny. It was nice knowing you all; I hope to be back, eventually.

Another blogger I read has explained why he rarely enables comments: because of "how crap most comments are". Instead of the increased traffic that comments generate--that 90 percent of the time leaves behind "pointless, lame, or redundant" comments that detract from his content--he would rather have less traffic but "the right kind of readers" (if only comments were enabled, the 10 percent that could contribute something to his blog).

I think that at least because of the scarcity of the kind of writing you do here--I mean how you write--you must get the right kind of readers, and however few on any day or accumulatively, there is no shortage of the right kind of readers, either. So even if it is a long time between posts, whatever you have written, as long as it is on the Web, will surely be read by some interested person, sometime, to who knows what benefit or end.

In the meantime, good luck with your study and thank you for the last--latest?--posts. I hope you will find time for more, soon.

Thank you. I do hope to find the time to write regularly again, but it is hoping.

Forgot the cry of gulls, and the deep sea swell
And the profit and loss"...

Let's hope not. There's always Christmas?

Good luck with your work. I hope you find something more engaging than blogging to occupy your days, though I will keep checking back here for updates.

Gratuitous spamming, even if the blog is moribund, still gets deleted...

I sympathise entirely, my research panel is suddenly a lot closer than it seemed, pesky rear-view mirrors. It doesn't make the thought of typing words for any other purpose too enticing... Nonetheless, I will be among those coming back in hope.
